Standing at Her Center

There is a quiet distortion that runs through many cultures like a current beneath the surface, subtle enough to feel like truth if you are not paying close attention. A woman becomes clear in herself, begins to speak without shrinking, begins to move toward what she wants with steady hands and an unhurried kind of certainty, begins to trust her own knowing in a way that does not ask permission or soften itself for approval, and almost immediately something in the collective story shifts around her.
What is actually being witnessed is not a change in her essence but a change in her availability to be misread. The same qualities that are celebrated in others begin to fracture under cultural perception when they live inside a woman who is no longer contorting herself into legibility.
